Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

PBIS is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students' behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health.  Visit pbis.org for more information.  The PBIS program is currently used in all of IASD's elementary schools and the Junior High.  The Senior High program is set to launch this year.

Each school develops their own acronym to guide the program as well as to build school spirit and identity.  East Pike Elementary School uses the acronym "PIKER" which stands for:

I am POSITIVE
I am IN CONTROL
I am KIND
I am ENGAGED
I am RESPECTFUL

Below is the Matrix which was developed by East Pike's PBIS Team and is used as the foundation of the PBIS program at East Pike.  It outlines the desired behaviours for the various situations a student finds themselves in during the course of a school day.  Students can earn "Piker Points" for demonstrating desirable behaviours found on the matrix.  Points are accumulated throughout the year and can be spent on various prizes and rewards.
