COVID-19 Update - Jr. High & Eisenhower Elementary

September 10, 2021

Dear Families:

The District was notified of two more positive cases of COVID-19 at the Junior High School (1) and Eisenhower Elementary School (1) on September 10, 2021. The Department of Health (DOH) worked with the school nurses and administration and concluded no additional students are required to be quarantined as the students were masked (Jr. High case) or not in school during his/her infectious period (Eisenhower case).   Currently, we have approximately 110 students (District-wide) in quarantine and 11 confirmed cases (District-wide) on our 14-day rolling count.  As such, the Junior High most recent positive case WILL be attributed to the District, as the student was in school.

Based on the information above as well as our current case count, we will continue to stay open under the current model.  See below for the current case numbers at each building as of today.

  • Senior High - 5 active case
  • Junior High/Eisenhower - 5 active cases
  • Horace Mann - 0 active cases
  • Ben Franklin - 1 active case
  • East Pike - 0 active cases
  • Central Administration - 1 active case

As a reminder, the 14-day clock starts at the onset of symptoms, not when the District is informed of the test results.

I realize that these are difficult times with the increased pressures the pandemic causes, and there are no guaranteed right or wrong answers at times due to the varying beliefs, attitudes, and opinions on the matter. As you know, the Department of Health instituted a legal mask order effective Tuesday, September 7, 2021 and only medical exemptions signed from a licensed health care provider will be accepted.  We thank you all for what you have done already and thank you for the work that is to come.  We truly appreciate you all. Please visit our COVID dashboard at www.iasd.cc for additional information relating to the number of positive cases and quarantines the District is facing at the current time.

Respectfully,

Mr. Michael J. Vuckovich

IASD Superintendent
