Prom Update

April 1, 2021

Dear Families:

I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you that no decision has been made regarding Prom, as options are still being vetted by the Student Government Association. They are exploring all possibilities, but with the limitations on gatherings, social distancing requirements, and masking mandates, those options appear to be quite limited.  They (SGA) will be communicating soon as to what the final determination is for Prom. Their advisor is working closely with the students on a variety of options. To say that we have canceled prom is inaccurate at this time.  The SGA advisor will be meeting with the students this upcoming week to revisit the discussion and their options.

Please know that your compassion and grace are needed more than ever to allow all parties time to find a feasible solution.  Schools are placed in a terrible situation with regards to the pandemic.  We all want the students to have a special night, and we are doing all we can to make it happen.  Once a final decision is made, the high school or my office will communicate accordingly.

In closing, I know this past year has been difficult and stressful for all of us.  Please know that every staff member, administrator, and Board member is doing their best to navigate these uncharted waters to provide the absolute best experience for your child(ren).  This includes the Athletic and Extracurricular Oversight subcommittee which has done an amazing job keeping our schools open, as well as having 100% of our athletic and extracurricular activities occur thus far.  I am amazed that in the middle of a global pandemic, we were able to continue with these after-school opportunities for our students. Everyone is doing their best to provide safe student opportunities in these difficult times.  Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,

Mr. Michael J. Vuckovich
